Factors protecting the brain health of the working-age population

Taking care of brain health supports work ability and mental health and prevents brain diseases and exhaustion.

Increased understanding of brain health and brain diseases, as well as increased appreciation of brain well-being, is very important in order to support brain health and well-being in workplaces, health care and society at large, as well as in individual choices. Information is also important in reducing stigma associated with brain diseases, which in turn supports inclusion and brain well-being also for those with brain diseases.

Impact objectives:

  • Brain health information guides the practical activities and political decision-making of both individuals and communities
  • Work and operating environments are brain ergonomic
  • People of working age get enough refreshing and restorative sleep
  • Fellowship has strengthened — opportunity, ability and experience of inclusion and belonging have increased

Tampere University of Applied Sciences (Sustainable Brain Health project), the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health and Folkhälsan are the coordination partners of the National Brain Health Programme in planning implementation and coordinating practical measures.
