Taking care of brain health supports well-being, functional capacity and quality of life
The group of elderly people is large and the share of the population will grow in the coming decades. The group is heterogeneous in terms of age, health and functional capacity, as well as many other factors. The societal burden associated with brain diseases increases with age, but taking care of brain health is not only about preventing future threats and diseases, but also about optimising current well-being and functional capacity.
Impact objectives:
- Brain health information is optimally used
- Environments for the elderly are brain ergonomic
- Older people get enough refreshing and restorative sleep
- Inclusion and meaningfulness have strengthened
The Age Institute and Folkhälsan are the coordinating partners of the National Brain Health Programme in planning implementation and coordinating practical measures.
